Roadway Engineer: Seeking a roadway engineer with a strong background in transportation design for both TXDOT and North Texas Tollway Authority (NTTA) projects. The roadway engineer will work with senior management to perform designs for roadway, bridge and maintenance projects. Good communication skills and strong, client focused, organizational skills are required. The roadway engineer must be self-motivated and will be assigned to deliver projects on schedule and within established budgets.
Typical Responsibilities:
- Prepare construction documents, studies, drawings, maps, reports and supporting documentation
- Prepare quantities and construction cost estimates
- Prepare construction drawings such as those needed for highways, structures, and maintenance projects
- Occasionally visits work sites, reporting findings to the Project Managers
- Communicate with clients regarding project issues, holds and attend meetings
- Assist with defining scope of work and man-hour requirements
- Assist with proposal production and implementation of marketing initiatives
- Assist Project Managers and more experienced Engineers in ensuring that project/task schedules and budgets are met
Basic Qualifications and Requirements:
- BS in Civil Engineering (Transportation focus preferred)
- 6-12 years of experience in Roadway Design
- PE license required
- Excellent communication skills
- Design experience working on TxDOT and North Texas Tollway Authority preferred
- Preferred Computer Skills: MicroStation and Geopak
Bridge/Structural Design Engineer & Inspector: Seeking a bridge/structural design engineer with bridge inspection experience to join our organization that excels in innovation and attention to detail. The design engineer is responsible for bridge and structural design of various bridge, structural, maintenance design projects and some project management. As an inspection team leader, strong communication skills are required to lead small inspection teams and coordinate with traffic control crews.
Typical Responsibilities:
- Perform complex engineering tasks and particularly important engineering work efficiently and accurately
- Implement complex structural analysis and prepare detailed and checkable design calculations
- Complete detailed checking of design calculations performed by others
- Develop structural details and construction plans using MicroStation
- Prepare of geometric layouts, construction specifications, and material quantity calculations
- Use Geopak and InRoads software to obtain geometric data
- Perform general and detailed bridge condition inspections and preparation of inspection reports
- Supervise and provide guidance and direction to lower-level engineers and CAD designers performing the above tasks
- Commitment to quality and continuous improvement through innovation, creative thinking and improved results
- Establish and maintain cooperative and productive relationships with all employees, clients and other stakeholders
Basic Qualifications and Requirements
- 6+ years structural design experience
- PE licensure in Texas or able to obtain within three months
- 2-4 years minimum of PE level related transportation structures work experience required
- NHI course “Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges” required
- 1-3+ years of team leader inspection experience
- BS in Civil Engineering with structural emphasis
- Good working knowledge of MS Excel and Word, industry-standard bridge design and analysis software and MicroStation
