This NTTA project involved the design/build construction of 6.5 miles SH 161 from SH 183, from North Carrier Parkway to the I-20 and I-30 interchanges.
A Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) railroad crossing at west Main Street and Jefferson Road added complexity to this project. Construction required a strong understanding of traffic control plans and implementation of multiple detours around the I-30/ SH 161 interchange.
VRX inspection staff provided quality assurance inspection services on the construction of MSE and soil nail retaining walls, bridges, drainage, pavement, embankment, illumination and ITS.
VRX’s chief inspector trained all the structural inspection staff for the project. The project required coordination with multiple partners, such as TXDOT, NTTA, the City of Grand Prairie, utility companies, residents along the corridor and extensive coordination with commercial properties and UPRR.
