VRX, Inc. provided bid-phase and construction inspection for the $200 million construction of 9.5-miles of the new six-lane toll road. Work included multiple soil nail, MSE and drilled shaft retaining walls; grading; storm sewers; culverts; concrete pavement; multiple bridges made of steel girders and prestressed concrete beams; drilled shafts; bridge pavement; illumination; sign structures and pavement markings.
While VRX’s principal was working with NTTA, she performed bid-phase construction management duties including conducting pre-bid meetings, issuing addenda and bid clarifications, administering bid openings, evaluating bids and contract execution. VRX’s principal also reviewed and evaluated construction schedules; coordinated construction with project designers, utility companies, FHWA, USACE, TxDOT, DART and local counties and cities; and reviewed change orders and contractors’ monthly pay estimates. In addition, VRX’s principal assisted in claim analysis and evaluation for this project.
VRX inspectors performed quality control and provided daily inspection of storm sewers; culverts; sanitary sewers; water and gas lines; paving; drilled shafts; bridges; soil nail, MSE and drilled shaft retaining walls; moisture and lime treatment of subgrade; guardrails; lighting; signals and signage to ensure that they were built according to the plans and specifications.
