The realignment of streets in a new housing development created the need for relocation of a DART crossing at Treehouse Lane. An existing DART crossing was located approximately 1300 feet to the south and because DART allows only a certain number of crossings, the project would provide at new crossing at the proposed Treehouse Lane and eliminate the crossing for the substation located to the south. VRX developed the design in accordance with DART and City of Dallas criteria and included construction staging and precast elements to accomplish the construction during the 4-hour closures that are allowed by DART for an active rail line. Because of the grades in the vicinity of the crossing, the total drainage area for this 162-foot-long section of roadway was 1.28 acres.
