The project consisted of paving and drainage improvements of two alleys; one 615-LF alley between Country Club Circle and Gaston Avenue from Pearson Drive to Gaston Avenue (Country Club) and one 570-LF alley between Lipscomb Avenue and Nesbitt Drive from Junius Street to Existing Pavement at the Nesbitt T-intersection.
The design provided 10-foot-wide concrete paved alleys within the 15-foot ROW for both unpaved alleys. The Country Club alley required the addition of a double grate inlet and curb to accommodate the runoff at a curve in the alley and connection to an existing 15-inch storm sewer. The Nesbitt alley reconstruction included the replacement of 390 linear feet of 6-inch wastewater lines with 8-inch lines and the replacement of manholes and cleanouts. The existing 4-inch water lines were replaced with 8-inch PVC water lines and associated gate valves and tapping sleeves. Drainage calculations, including runoff quantities and alley capacities, were performed to determine the drainage requirements. Alley horizontal and vertical alignments and typical section configurations were designed in accordance with the City of Dallas standards. All driveway entrances were redesigned to meet the City of Dallas standards.
