Course Objectives
- Identify requirements for all types of embankment material and the construction procedures, TxDOT Item 132 Embankment.
- Discuss the authority of the inspector pertaining to this item.
- Summarize tests related to building embankments and subgrade, such as Tex-104-E, Tex-106-E, Tex-107-E, Tex-114-E, and Tex-115-E.
- Perform sampling in accordance to an owner’s guide schedule and sampling procedures.
- Explain proper placement and construction procedures for rock embankment.
- Determine if proper rolling techniques to achieve proper compaction as outlined in the specification are being used.
- Give examples of the thickness limitations specified for compaction governed by density control methods specified.
- Determine the need for reworking, re-compaction and refinishing based on the loss of or failure to meet moisture, density, stability, or finishing requirements. Identify the proper finishing processes.
- Outline grade and alignment staking process
- Calculate quantities for every unit of measure and calculate payment to contractor
- Outline proper information to record on daily work reports and pay documents
